You've never driven Kansas & eastern Colorado huh?

I didn't mean 75-80 the entire trip, but those sustained speeds were mostly in the evening in KS & CO. We didn't want to add 1 more day to our trip because of the person watching our 3 year old.

Can't remember the name and it's in storage right now but I was shocked at how stable it was. I'll get the info in a couple weeks when my welder is going to be putting a receiver on it for our atv trailer.

Let us know where you are going so we can get out of your way. We are friendly though and will wave at you as we pass you at the gas station.

I love my burb and I love my 8.1, it'll pass anything...except a gas station.

Any luck with determining the speed rating for your tires? I would guess that they probably adhere to the industry standard and are rated at 65 mph - under normal pressure and load conditions. A few ST tires may be rated at speeds up to a maximum of 75 mph. Just wondering where yours fit in.

Sounds like my old TV. '86 Ford F250 w/460 on steroids. It got 7.7 pulling my '97 Jayco 323RKS on the flats. Hit a hill and you could almost watch the gas gauge move. Mods:
Comp cams 262 cam
Comp cams valve springs
Edelbrock performer intake
Roller rockers
Accudrive gear drive
MSD 6 ignition
Headman headers w/true dual 2 1/2" pipe
C6 w/shift kit and HD High stall TC.
Some other stuff I am forgetting.

They're probably rated for 65, but there's a safety factor in that, and it would be based on worst case scenario. Not something to do with low pressure in Arizona all day long in August.

You might want to read some of the threads concerning the OEM tires in the forum's "Tires, Tires, Tires" section to get a better perspective of just how easy it is to do thousands of dollars of damage to your new RV with a simple "blowout" of a tire.

Believing that Keystone equipped your RV with the "best in the industry" or even, in some situations, an "honestly adequate" tire has made for ruined vacations for more than a handful of our members.

Trusting OEM tires at the outer edge of their performance envelope is not a wise thing to do in most situations. Some would describe it as similar to standing in the middle aisle of a commercial airliner on landing with your hands in the air, not holding onto anything and saying, "Look ma, no hands!" You may "get away unharmed" for a couple of flights, but sooner or later, during a particularly rough landing, you'll wind up on your "keester" or with your teeth embedded in a seatback.

Well thanks for all the mothers on this board... I'll try not to post things that might upset others that try to live in bubbles for their entire lives.

When you come on to a forum and announce that you have been "towing for many moons" and at the same time exceed the speed rating of your OEM tires by driving at 75-80 mph in an attempt to avoid spending another day on the road, then you should expect to "raise a few eyebrows". Along with several others, I am puzzled by your comments that come from an experienced driver.

We are neither upset nor do we live in a bubble. We are, however, questioning the wisdom of why you would want to tow a TT at this excessive speed on OEM tires that have a reputation for blowouts and that are not rated for 75-80 mph. Do you know for certain that this "safety factor" will compensate for driving 10-15 mph beyond their rating for an extended period of time?

You can drive at any speed you choose but you shouldn't be offended by the comments of "the mothers on the forum" who think that being passed by a truck & TT which will "pass anything" and is doing just that at 75-80 mph is unsafe.

Here is our new 2015 Ford F-350 DRW with the second generation 6.7L loaded up with our little boat (sometimes we have to get away from the land yacht). We spent 10 days on Lake Roosevelt in central Washington. I am excited to hook it to our Carbon 327 5er next week for a little outing. Click image for larger version

Just wondering about the "Over Size Load" sign on the front of your truck...... is the width of the boat and trailer in excess of the allowable road limit in WA? Regardless, both look great!

Oversize due to boat being almost 10 feet wide and limit is 8.5. Boat trailer length is 36 feet and truck is just about 22 with the hitch...so 58 total but the width is what the state gets us on.

First real trip in our new-to-us TT up to just outside of Old Forge, NY. Truck pulled nicely for being at the max. Went about 55mph on the two lane state roads and 67mph or so on the NYS Thruway. I got 7.0mpg up and 8.5mpg on the way back down.

Is your Ford an Ecoboost or V8?
