Installing a Progressive Ind EMS-LCHW50

Just wanted to post a project I worked on last night for all those that want to do this and feel that it is out of their realm of work.

We purchased a Progressive Ind EMS-LCHW50 switch for our 2014 Laredo 303TG over the winter and now is the time to install.

We designated the location to be in the bottom of the pantry cabinet as that is where the plug for the shore power come in from outside.

We took off the front cover and this is what was behind;

DW requested that any space I could salvage for shoe storage would be appreciated. So we decided to make the switch only cover half of the opening and the other would be open with a partition to the back to protect the wires. Like this rough layout;

Work longer than I would have like installing the switch. It was a matter of up and down going to get the right pliers, cutters, etc.. while installing the switch. This is where it ended up last night;

Next dry fit the rest of the wood walls and panels. then stain and paint. More pictures to come in the days ahead.....

Nice neat job.

I put rubber washers under mine when I mounted it, otherwise the hum (from the relays?) were amplified by the "sound board" (i.e., floor) I connected the box to.

Seems like a nice and easy location to work in. I ended up putting mine in the under bed storage area and felt like a 62 year old pretzel when I was done. Easy is always better the older you gets.

Nice. I have to do this with my 30 amp unit at some point. It's not doing much protecting while it's still inside the cardboard box.

I do not think, inside a cardboard is a valid installation
If you are like me after a while I will forget where I put the box

Well, at least the cardboard box won't blow away if the wind kicks up.

No, the old front cover will have a cut out for the display to fit thru. That is the next part of this install. It will take a couple of days to finish with the painting though.

I hope to have the rest of the wood mocked in place either tonight or tomorrow night. I'll post the rough'd outcome when I get to it. Supposed to rain tonight, and I don't work in the rain ever since I got out of the army (reserves).... lol

Over the weekend we where able to semi-finish this project. Roughed in is more like it, and started staining and painting it.

Here it is the roughed in;

While staining and painting this, we decided to add a few more shelves through out the trailer. We roughed the boards again and started the finishing. When they are done, we'll post more pictures.
