Bed Lift Mod

I just did a bed lift mod on my Passport 2400bh. Now access to under bed storage is a piece of cake. It all started when we added a 6 inch memory foam mattress to the top along with a smaller one and a feather bed (keep adding till it was comfortable). All that extra padding added a lot of weight to the bed and was a bear to raise for storage. So I found a couple of you tube videos, replaced the flat base with a thicker 1 inch plywood and bigger hinges, bought 2 45 lb pistons along with the end connections, beefed up the bed frame a little with 2 x 6. Installed everything in about 1/2 a day. Works great. Now 2 fingers to left the bed with easy access to the under bed storage. I would recommend this mod to anyone with a little carpentry skills.

Post some pictures when you get the chance. Sounds like you did a nice job.

Also what works well is to move the mounting point of the lifting rod. I have done this but cannot remember what way to move them...I thing the bottom end ...you move forward and the end to the bed itself...you move back.
