Bedroom closets

Has anyone built shelves in the front bedroom closets in a Passport Elite for clothes instead of hanging them?

This is what we did with our closet space. http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/sho...highlight=ikea

Less work than building shelves and lighter.

We used the hanging ones for a couple of years - but they wasted too much space. I built front to back shelves with 1/2" pine as the supports (used construction adhesive and brads to hold them) then 1/4 pressboard for the shelves. Very easy, light and adds an incredible amount of storage.

I also added LED light strips wired into contact switches so that when the door is opened each shelf is bathed in light.. I also did that for all of the cupboards and cabinets.

Quarter rounds as the shelves supports anchored by double sided 3M heavy duty mounting tape. Cut to size 1/4 inch thick plywood and the shelves are removable if need be. Shelves have held all summer with layers of heavy jeans, pants, and sweaters. I only did the passenger side bed closet. We use the driver's side for storing bulkier items (ie umbrellas/fans).

Here's shelves that I installed in the closets, http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=8238, look at post #10. Our 248RKS does have another closet for hanging clothes. Installing all of the shelves has been one of the best mods that I have done.

We simply bought two book shelf units from Walmart and set them on the floor, pretending they had been installed. They measure 24" by 36" with six compartments. They simply rest on the floor and if we sell the 5'ver we can take them with us or leave them with the new owner.

My wife hung the cloth/cardboard shelves on her side and she likes that set up. I just drop a pile of shorts in the back and a pile of t-shirts just inside the door and that works great for me.
