I went to auto zone and picked up a quick disconnect and installed it on the positive side of the battery. This way when I am not using my camper for 6 to 8 weeks the batteries are still charged.

Can it happen? Not likely, especially with someone who "thinks beyond the moment" but we all, have (or could) wind up in a "perfect storm" and end up in an "OH S**T moment"...

Definitely a loose trailer without brakes is a catastrophe, but I'm guessing a loose trailer even with brakes is still an "oh s**t" moment.

While John makes a "perfect storm" scenario point it is possible but I think highly improbable as he states. To me, logically, if your unit is plugged into shore power you would have the battery switch on so the battery would be charging. I'll leave the odds on that to someone in Vegas.

Yeah, I'm thinking brakes ain't gonna do $&@# for a 43' 20000# unguided missile skating down the highway lol. Especially since only 1 set for tires will be touching the pavement once the pins cutting a nice groove. Suppose it would take away from the cinema effect of the wheels still turning as it's laying in the ditch in a cloud of dust.
Guess that's why there's no safety chains on a 5 er, so you can get the heck outta the way ......lol

Here's my setup, and I too disconnect everything when in storage.
I only have a connection to my solar charger controller, my 100W panel keeps it topped up.
