stairway railing

hi to all. we have a 2013 269FWRLS Copper Canyon . would like to install a rail on the insdide wall strictly for balance not weight bearing . has anyone ever done this mod to their coach ? our dealer says there are no studs for this to be installed to . we have a stud finder , but with all this snow and cold weather have not been able to check the wall . another option is to install a post into the steps . any comments and suggestions welcome .
thanks in advance

If you put up a hand rail, someone will eventually grab the rail to catch themselves and take a fall. You might be able to use panel glue to attach a chair rail molding to the wall. It wouldn't hold much but might suffice for your purpose. The Chair rail could be used for a little side support but there would be no danger of a person grabbing hold of it. Use three or four plastic drywall anchors to screw the rail to the wall just to hold it until the panel glue cures. A better solution, would be to take the paneling off of the wall, fabricate an inner structure to support a hand rail, reattach the paneling and install the hand rail. That's more work, but it's the only safe solution.
