Cougar 26RBS King Mattress question

Has anyone had any luck with putting a 72x80 King RV mattress into a 70 x 80 platform like we have in our Cougar 26 RBS? It appears that there are a lot of choices in the 72 width but not the 70. Does 1 inch hangover on either side make a difference?

Also any recommendations for brands that are 10" memory foam?

I thank you in advance for your assistance.

That's what we did in our Avalanche. No trouble with it.

We have a 2020 26RBSWE, same trailer, just the western edition. If you find a 72in wide you like, it will fit right in.

We bought a Layla 10in foam mattress. We were looking for a true soft feel. Most foam mattresses are med-firm to firm. But I digress. Our choice is a 76in wide house mattress rather than RV mattress. If one of you can hand sew a Frankenstein stich it can open up more options for mattresses.

Unzip the cover and fold it back out of the way. Then use an electric turkey carving knife and cut off what you need to. We cut the 76 inch width down to 70 inch. Pull the cover back over it. Fold up the slack like a Christmas package and give it the Frankenstein stitch.

Zoom in the the last pic and you'll see what I mean.

We took out the king mattress and put in a residential queen... we sleep close together and have a queen mattress at home.. dw did not like the king and we have a lot more room around the bed now. Just trimmed the plywood base down and it fits perfect
