Ceiling fan light kit

Has anyone installed a light on their ceiling fan? If so id you have get a special kit? I would like to add one to the fan in the Living Room because there are six LEDs and when you turn em on it is way too bright.

Any light kit that will fit your fan will work. It's nothing more than sockets and wiring. If your ceiling fan is 12 volts, you'll need to use 12 volt LED's and if your ceiling fan is 120 volts, you'll need to use 120 volt LED's in the sockets. It's difficult to find 12 volt LED's with candelabra base sockets, so that will limit your selection as will any "remote control operation" of the fan which may/may not also control an "aftermarket light fixture"....

In short, if you can find a light fixture with the right sockets for the voltage and that fits the fan, it will work.

Have you considered putting a couple of lamps on the tables to lessen the need for overhead lighting? We use a 3 way LED bulb in a wood turned pedestal lamp with velcro on the bottom and a velcro disc on the table to keep it from moving during travel. Always sitting on the table between the recliners and always plugged in, so when we're on shore power, we've got the "luxury" of a "3 levels of brightness lamp" at table height and don't need to rely on those "too bright things in the ceiling"... We don't have a ceiling fan in the trailer, but if we did, like the ones in the house, all their lights are also "up on the ceiling, not down where we're reading or doing things and need "table level light".

It is 120v. I took the center section at the bottom off to verify that there was wiring for a light (there is) it just seemed that center section was was small but thinking about it now it doesn't really matter as long as the light shaft will go through the hole. The way our LR is setup there is no where to put a light other then on the floor.

I would make sure the light fixture won’t get hit by a slide when retracted first.

When the slides are closed there is about 18" of clearance and I only want to put a small fixture so it should be fine.

Appreciate it. My main reason for starting this thread was to try and find out if there would be an issue in regards to extra stress on the fan assembly while driving on our wonderful highways.

The light kit only weighs a couple of pounds, so there shouldn't be any problems... that "cap" that you removed, just take it with you to Lowe's or Home Depot and match it up with the mount on the kits you like. If they're the same size, they will "slip over the end of the fan where you removed the cap. Just connect the wires, put it in place on the fan and replace the screws and you're done.

Check your bulbs often so they don’t vibrate out during travel and break on the floor if you get the exposed bulb kind

And check the 3 screws that hold the globe in place if you get that kind.... BTDT glass can (and will) get into everything within 20' of that globe if it falls off during towing LOL
