Angry Fiberglass Cracking on 2010 Sprinter

I purchased a 2010 Keystone Sprinter in June 30, 2009. Since I have had it, I have used auto wax on the outside every 6 months. I keep a Tyvek cover that I purchased from Camping World over it when not in use. I live in SW Florida.

Well this past week I removed the cover in preparation for a 2 week vacation only to find the Front of the RV is bubbly and cracking. The fiberglass looks like paint running when you apply it too thick.

I took it back to Camping World where we purchased it, and they stated they had never seen such a thing. They contacted Keystone for us, and Keystone states they will only supply the materials, but not the labor to repair it. They felt is was "Cosmetic". To me cracks in outside fiberglass is NOT cosmetic. Naturally it is just out of warrantee and Keystone also made that remark. The labor was quoted as $1,600.

Keystone told my wife that the Tyvek cover cause the damage by causing it to "Bake" underneath of it! WHAT? There covers are so light I can see through them.

The experts at Camping World feels it is a flaw in the fiberglass. Still Keystone will not pay to have it repaired.

I would expect most consumers would expect the outside fiberglass to last longer than 22 months before you have to replace it. This makes no sense to me.

Here are some pictures of the damage. What are your thoughts?

I have edited the pictures in previous page. This is what the front of my Sprinter looks like. Would you call this mere Cosmetic blemishes?

After having seen these photos, I would have to agree that it certainly does not look like a "cosmetic" problem. The severity of the blistering and cracking of the fiberglass seems something more than cosmetic. The Tyvek cover is advertised as "breatheable" and judging by the porous material from which it is made, it certainly seems that it would not allow air to become that hot so as to bake and blister the fiberglass.
You might want to send your photos to Tyvek and get some input from them. I would expect them to deny that their cover could possibly cause this kind of damage.
But it would be interesting to hear what they have to say.

The side of the trailer that gets the most sun had NO damage. Only the front. Kind of wonder if the winds created by driving it has caused this damage.

Abrasion of rubber roof caused by Tyvek cover?

This may be delamination due to water penetration. The same thing happened to one of my doors after a very intense rain storm. I'm wondering if your Tyvek cover abraded your rubber roof and let water in just above the area where damage occurred. I used a Tyvek cover for a few weeks until it self-destructed in what I would classify as mildly windy conditions. I noticed some abrasion of the rubber roof where the roof meets the sidewalls of the trailer. The cover caused the abrasion. I have since learned that Keystone does not recommend covers for this reason. (I will never use a cover again.)
