Talking about camping for wiredgeorge

Well, George I went camping this past weekend... What did I do???

I got to the campground and unhooked the trailer, then set up camp and hooked up the water and electric. I then went inside and put the slides out and flipped on the A/C... Next, I did a channel search on the TV's so the DW could watch as she setup her portion of the routine.

Then I took the dog outside and hooked him to his lead so I could setup the chairs and lay a fire for later.. Next I gave him a treat and went in to pour a Elijah Craig, then went back out and petted the dog while relaxing. About dark I lit the fire and we sat around it until about 11 pm then took the dog for his bedtime walk and went in to bed..

Saturday morning I got up and took the dog out for his morning walk and then came in and took my thyroid meds, then made a cup of coffee and flipped on the TV to catch an old western while waiting for the DW to get up..

Later, I washed the front window of the trailer because it is a huge windshield and catches every bug in the path.. Then went back in for another cup of coffee and a Kolache to share with the dog outside..

Later I pulled the floor vent covers so the DW could vacuum the dog hair out of them. After I finished that I piddled around in the basement straightening up a little..

While straightening up the basement I realized I need to check the water in both batteries and so I did that..

Well, it's time for another dog walk so I grab the poop bags and away we go.... Let's just say that it was a success

When we got back to the trailer it was time to clean up, wash my hands and get the grill ready for the steaks.

Got all that done and laid the fire for tonight and then went in for another Elijah Craig before sitting in the shade and waiting for the DW to tell me it was time to put the steaks on..

After we ate and cleaned up I put the grill away and lit the fire, poured another Elijah Craig and we sat around the fire until about 11:30 or so, then took the dog for his bedtime walk and went in to bed..

Sunday morning was a repeat of Saturday morning except I started putting the chairs and stuff away, then about 10 am I broke down the camp and loaded the trailer on the truck and we drove home.

We then unloaded the dirty clothes and perishable foods and took it home..

That's a camping trip...

How was your weekend camping trip..

Well... now that you mention it.. the backing in at the storage yard is always fun... although a bit easier now that the trailer is 4 feet shorter.. the DW always times me... this week was good, very good... took me 7 minutes to back-in, unhook and hook up the shore power.

Fortunately you didn't do this riveting account Face book style by posting pictures of everything from the steaks to the dog poop!
THANK YOU!

I’m on the edge of my seat! Can’t wait for next weeks episode!! I think a book deal may be in your future!

Although I must say that does sound like an extremely tranquil and relaxing weekend. My blood pressure lowered just reading about it.. Good for you

I am jealous, we have not been camping for a few weeks.

I gave my best friend a 21 YO Elijah Craig for his birthday a few years ago, it was a most excellent whisky.

So...if the top one is the DW’s, the bottom one has to be the pup’s. What did you eat?

I have to say, The Days of Javi’s Weekend sounds relaxing.

Sigh... I want to go camping but my sister / BIL came for a visit and decided to move from Tennessee (Del Rio) to Texas and bought a lot and are in my spot on the property. Won't be able to camp for several weeks. I will recap my trip when I go... generally hookup and then unhook at a campground. Then get the satellite TV fired up, get in my easy chair and remind my missus the out puppies need to go out now and again. I cooked steaks once on our cheapo Walmart grill (charcoal) and the local FD gave me a stern warning. I get to light the grill but the missus takes over after that point. After the grill is cleaned out and put away, I go back to my recliner and watch more TV and then we hookup and head for the homestead. Pretty much a pattern I guess. Nothing exciting like Javi. By the way, when I am at home, I get up, work, close up for the day, go home, sit in my recliner and watch TV (we do read the Bible before TV after supper).

Y'all don't worry, we'll be camping again this weekend.
Tamales Friday night and hamburgers Saturday night. Already got the wood loaded for the fire pit. If I can find a couple of dozen minnows I might catch a mess of crappie for Sunday supper.

The ratio of work to bourbon seems wrong!

Whoops! I may have ruined my next trip; had a dozen of Pedro's tamales tonite (Lubbock) with some Herdez salsa (didn't want to work on my own), tortilla chips and a helping of Ole pork skin slabs with Louisiana hot sauce.

Now, some chocolate milk, 2 Tums, 1 famotadine, a glass of water snd I'm hitting the rack (after a shower).

I like your taste in drink Sir! But you didn’t mention anything about feeding, bathing, changing or supervising small humans riding 2-wheeled contraptions that always seem intent on causing accidents... am I doing camping all wrong?? Ha!

Everyone has their favorites and traditions. That's a great looking steak but I'll take that with some Maryland steamed crabs a couple of ears of Silver Queen corn still in the husk on top of the crabs. Or some crab cakes, some steamed shrip (the MD way with Old Bay seasoning, onions, and some beer and white vinegar in the pot). and some nice beef steak tomatoes and spring onions.

The rest of that "stuff" like setting up, putting out the recliners, starting a fire, yada, yada, yada, mostly the same.

Man, y'all know how to hurt a guy! Pedro's tamales, Maryland steamed crab. If I had seen Memphis ribs and Louisiana catfish Atchafalaya we'd be set. I suppose we could throw in bacon-turtle burgers:

Now you're making me jelous. That looks a lot better than the black angus burger with mushrooms, onions, and three cheese topping that I had for luch.

I have to admit that Brenda and I have never made the turtle burgers. But here is the site with the recipe from start to finish. Another easier one for young kids look up spider dogs on the grill. That’s pretty cool also. https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/m...e-burgers.html
