what is it?

back rear wall of upper bunk 2016 Hideout 175LHS

metal plate secured with two screws & has a hole.

Looks like the plate used to lock the bunk in the up position. There should be a sliding pin on the bunk.

Is there one on the opposite wall? Our previous house had similar brackets in the closet for the bar that held clothes. Chuckster's suggestion sounds more realistic.

there is only one & there isn't anything on the upper bunk because it is fixed, our should I say was fixed. I cut the upper bunk in half to allow an adult access to the lower & the upper for storage.

Was the upper bunk hinged at the rear?

thanks for the link, but both bunks are fixed.the bottom has a hinge access for the bottom storage. The "what is it" serves no purpose, go figure.

Are you the original buyer? I wonder if the factory just puts that in the wall either way, fixed or hinged.

not the original owner.

I suspect "what's it?" was improperly installed, it should have been in the lower bunk area, not the top.

In the clod light of dawn what difference does it make
