New Cougar owner

We just bought a Cougar 315RLS due for pickup in 3 weeks. Mostly because I needed to have a hitch installed on a weekend. One question the dealership had one add on sale they pitched, which surprised me that it was only one. Something called Duratain. It had a hefty price of $2200. Has anyone heard of this and is it worth it? Normally I would say no but wanted to check with the community. It’s great to be an owner.

Welcome! Can't help with the hitch question. Never heard of Duratain but that price seems really high. Others will likely help more with hitch suggestions as well as any other questions.

Never heard of it so looked it up - looks like a regular "smoke and mirrors" product to me. They offer VC1-VC4, which did they offer you for 2200? Note that their coverage guarantee says "up to"....so that's meaningless. 2200 for all 4 (whoops, I wouldn't let them do the inside "spraying" of everything in the RV) might be worth something if they gave you an ironclad 5 year guarantee on the exterior walls, frame and everything under it etc., but I'm sure that is a pipe dream. If you haven't, google it and look at the manufacturer's video.

Add on sales

All four were $2200. I like some of the promises and most of this is dealer profit but the good part was they were low pressure no hard sell I just need to tell them yes or no. I have seen some comments none were negative most were is it worth it? Thanks for your input looking forward to some RVing adventures with or without duratain.

I think I would ask them for the chemical makeup/description of their products before signing for that much money with the "up to" statement they include. The products sound very enticing, and are meant to, but I wouldn't believe anything without looking into what it is exactly that being applied and what it actually/really does. I remember paying 500+ (forced to) as an add on for a new vehicle for their "exterior protectant" - non negotiable. What did I get? Well, the product was supposedly applied before purchase, and what did I get? A little bottle of some sort of applicant I was to apply to the exterior every six months for it to "work".

Just do you due diligence, it may be worth something. I can assure you that not having to polish, wax and coat your RV every 6 months would be nice....but I doubt this product is that since I've not seen or heard about it from lots of folks trying to find that "easy" way out which this seems to work toward. Good luck.
