Coleman thermostat woes

The last time we went camping DW complained that it was COLD in the camper. I figured out why today. Our thermostat is 10 degrees off. It is the digital version. It was 56 inside and showed 66. Is there a way to calibrate those or do I have to replace. My HVAC guy says that due to the 12volt on the unit, I cannot use a household tstat in my camper, any ideas on that?

If you have to replace and not under warranty, I would recommend a digital available at big box home store or Walmart. I have a Hunter 7 day programmable and it works very well. Cost about 35.
I had to give up low fan for ac, which in could add by installing a separate switch for it. I never use low fan so no big deal.
To answer your question, I don't know if there is a way to calibrate the Coleman or not. Have you checked the manual? Steve

I did check the manual and no luck. How did you make the Hunter 7 work? Is it 12 volt?

The thermostat may well be bad, but have you looked around to make sure there's not a hot air register blowing onto it or a return air current that's artificially warming it above the cabin temperature? We had an issue like that with the mechanical thermostat in our Springdale. I changed the thermostat, it didn't help, then started looking and realized the floor vent was aimed directly at the thermostat. I turned the vent around and man was it much more comfortable

Maybe it's not your problem, but better to be sure than to spend money and find out you didn't need to.....

Good Luck,

X2 what John said.
If you still need to replace, the thermostat I am referring to runs off of AAA batteries, not 12v. Easy to install.

I actually had all of the heat off. Doors closed and the two thermometers were close together. No heat source.
I am going to the Big Box to look for that tstat
