How to confirm that transfer switch is operating correctly?

Hello everyone. I am about to finish my inverter install on my inverter prepped keystone. The inverter I am using is a Progressive Dynamics PD1600 with an integrated automatic transfer switch. Once I have everything hooked up, is there an easy way to confirm that the transfer switch is working when I hook it up to shore power?

If you unplug from shore power and your electric appliance is still running, you know you are good there.

Plug into shore power and turn the inverter off. If your electric appliance is still running, you know the transfer switch worked.
