Fresh Water hose storage

I'm sure like most of you, I hate fumbling with the hose with every set up. Until now I've stored the hose in a tote. This w/e I installed a hose carrier on the rear bumber of my 26RLS Keystone Hideout. To be cautious I secured with a bunji cord and one ziptie.
We traveled 60 miles or so, without any problems. Attached is a picture. Click image for larger version

Looks like it should work for you. Here where we live, I would have to add a bolt -cutter-proof padlock to keep the hose from "walking away".

I would also have something to cover the ends so nothing unwated could get into it since its more likely to happen there rather than in a tote.

I screw the ends together, even in the tote?

There is a lot less dripping that way.

I'be thought about installing a real, but, wonder about the water trapped in the hose going bad?

That's why we don't screw the ends together any more. While the water might not be "bad", it can get a stale taste that is difficult to get out of the hose. We keep ours in a flat tote.

Isn't that why you "bleach water" the ends of the hose and the hose bib before hooking it up and then run water through the hose before hooking it to the trailer.

Drain the hose, only takes a few seconds. there may be a little left, shouldn't be that much. Also, next time your going to use it, put a tablespoon of bleach with a cup of water in the hoset, screw the ends together and rinse it through the hose. I usually make it into a looped/ circular bundle , and rotate the circle of hose around about 4 times, Sanitizes it, and then hook up to a faucet and flush it out good before filling tank, or hooking up to 'city water' connection. Water will taste fresher, and you know there won't be any/many germ-ies. Unfortunately, even a few drops of water will cause algae and/or mildew to grow, which the bleach also gets rid of from the hose.

I drain the hose and also connect the ends together. Ive never thought much about the residual water as a concern. After reading the comnents I may consider using white vinegar to sanitize rather than bleach. Thanks for the tips.

Agreed - currently, we store our FW hoses in a sealed plastic tub and we do drain the hose before we connect the ends and store. I was referring to the water that would remain trapped in the hose if 50ft of hose were being stored on a hose real. I suppose one could pull the hose completely out, drain and then rewind. Seems like more trouble than storing the hoses in the tub. Everytime I think about mounting a hose real, I talk myself out of it

Exactly. It ain't brain science either. Y'all don't don't drink that water from the tank do ya? Heck I keep my mouth closed when I use it to take a shower.
We use bottled water to cook with and drink.

Hahaha. I think a lot of us grew up drinking out of a water hose. I'd drink creek and river water, but I passed on that water out at the barn.

I tend to not drink tap water, but do use it for cooking, tea, brushing teeth, etc. and use the freshwater tank the same way. I do regularly bleach the tank and freshwater system, though, and run water through the hose for around 30 secs before attaching to filter or filling the tank with it.
