Newbie from OK Towing 318FLS Sprinter

Hello all , i just bought a 2010 sprinter 318fls and was curious about how good they tow down the road. i have an 2002 f350 diesel dually.I really am concerned about a tongue pull trailer that long, but like an idiot i already bought it before thinking too much.

Welcome to the forum. I don't have any specific experience towing that long a trailer with a dually. We towed a 34' Holiday Rambler with a 3/4 ton and it wasn't the most stable rig I've ever towed, but it wasn't a white knuckle ride the whole time, just in cross winds and on wet roads. At least you've got the "biggest conventional truck" you can to tow with.

Hopefully someone here will have some real world experience towing with a similar rig.

At any rate, welcome to the forum and we're glad to have you join us.

I looked up the weights of camper. You have about the same truck as me with DRW instead of SRW and year older. I tow a Cougar 327RES and I am right at my top weights with it. BUT it tows fine and I am enjoying the pull better than a TT. You having the DRW will make up for anything as far as side to side movement. Tow rating as best I remember are about the same. Don't over load the camper and the travel length is nothing. I towed a 33 ft TT before the 5er.
Hope this helps from someone who has similar truck.

We had a 3365bhs for five years before we traded for the 5er. Took it all over, through the hills in Tennessee to Key West. Make sure you have some really good sway control bars, and it towed a little better if we had some water in the holding tank. Welcome and good luck.

Welcome to the forum from Bartlesville.

Two RVs ago, we pulled a 32' bumper pull with a 3/4 ton Dodge (quad cab, short bed - 140" WB)... Pulled great. Used only a W/D hitch (no sway control) and it was perfectly balanced. Your experience may vary based upon how your trailer is balanced, and how you subsequently load it. They all vary.

Go out.. Camp.. Have fun...

George, I used to pull a 37' enclosed car trailer that was of the same hitch type as a travel trailer. My experience would lend me to believe you have plenty of truck and should have no problems. I currently have a Cougar 28 RBS and do not even know that it is behind the truck. When using my sway bar, even in a stiff side wind, the truck never gives any sensation of being pushed around. I think that you will be pleased with your purchase.

What's the wheelbase on your truck?

Not that I have a similar setup, but I found that if my fresh water tank up front was full, the extra couple hundred pounds of water made for a smoother tow. Since your truck is pretty beefy, I'd go for the full 15% of trailer weight on the tongue.

I tow a 32.9' tongue pull with a '12 F 250 with no problem, I only have a single friction sway control and could probably use a second but the only time I think about it is in a 20 plus cross wind and then I just slow down a little and she smoothes right out. The next day I forget all about the second sway control.

Thanks for all the input, I feel much better now, The wheelbase is 172 inches so it should be fine according to what you all are saying.
