CNTL-ALT-DELETE .... yep, I did my share of that also back in the day. Then came the wonderful invention, called ... laptop computers. To "reset" meant simply pulling the battery. Then the laptops started affixing the battery so it cannot be removed without dismantling it. So now, it's a new series of buttons. Sheesh! Technology ... it's great when it works and it sure sucks with when it don't.

True story:

About 5 years ago my wife and I flew from Charlotte, NC to Indianapolis, Indiana. Our flight was on Monday morning and we flew coach. At the departing airport we boarded the plane and then just sat there. The time for actual departure came and went. The plane did not move.

About that time the pilot came on and announced there was a delay and it would be just a few more minutes and we'd be on our way.

After half an hour or so, he came back on again and said, folks we'll be departing shortly. Maintenance has switched over a "transponder" and we'll have to shut the plane completely off and start it up again, so please do not panic. The air vents will be off for only a few seconds.

Now, remember, this was Monday morning, in coach, .... and I did not realize how many other travelers on the plane that morning were actually business executives traveling somewhere.

Without thinking (coming from an IT background), I blurted out to my wife in a rather loud and vocal tone, laughing my azz off ... "Yep! That sounds about right .... When in doubt, turn it off and then turn it back on again!"

I think every person in that plane turned around and was staring at me, and every one of them had this smerky smile on their face!

Our plane arrived at it's destination about an hour late, but it was a good flight.

Apallo 11, seconds from mankind's first lunar landing. A code 1202 and 1201 appear and alarms go off. The guidance computer is overloaded and pukeing data. Thankfully NASA built in a "quick auto reboot" into the computer. I guess back then a few billion dollars prevented the "blue screen of death", the often hard reboot (removing power and restoring power) and the oft message "your operating system is corrupted, reinstall windows". Some computers have come along way in 50 + years, others, not so much.

The not so much crowd appears to be the iN-Command gaggle.
