Cutting ABS Fender covers

I’m replacing the fender covers and need to know the best way to cut them. Both sides have part on the slide outs and part on the main RV.

Do you have a band saw? Cut them before installing. Or perhaps a Saber saw.
Other suggestions will come along.

We use a miter saw. Use tape and draw a line to reduce chipping.

I use my radial arm saw (a miter saw will do the same thing) and like Chuck suggested, tape the area to be cut with masking tape on BOTH sides, then do your measurements and mark the tape. It'll prevent any marks from measuring but more important, the tape will prevent splintering and cracking of the plastic...

USE A NEW, SHARP BLADE AND GO SLOW !!!!!

Maybe I'm not understanding what he is cutting. I'm referring to the rough semicircular cutouts over the wheels which are then trimmed out with plastic skirting.

I believe he's referring to the ABS fender skirts. That's what he called them in the thread title. The "semicircular cutouts" over the wheels are either in the FILON side wall or in the corrugated aluminum siding on that style trailer, and in the aluminum J-wrap. The only ABS I know of is the actual "fender skirt"...

I wouldn’t advise this method. Too much risk for damage to the sidewall of the trailer, especially at the edge where the screw holes are.

Probably best I've been working with these tools since a was in high school the wrong tool in the wrong hands usually causes more problems than they solve

If you are using a circular saw, mount the blade backwards. This will eliminate chipping.

Thanks for all the reply’s. I cut it with a fine tooth hand saw. Taped it with blue tape first. The reason they needed cutting both fender covers fall partly on a slide and party on the main RV
