King Swift WiFI

Bought a King Swift Wifi Antenna, Router/Extender for the old camper. Seems like an easy install (I am going to get there at some point) but the coax is only 11' long. It has a unique connector on the end that pushes into a female hole in the antenna end. The other is a small screw on connector. Sorry, not familiar with the name of these connectors. I have called 4 times today and left my number for a call back as well as an email. I have tried to get support as a regular customer, a business and tried to get to sales. NO ONE EVER answers or returns my calls or emails to their support staff. This may well be a factor if I ever need to buy another comms type device for my camper. There doesn't seem to be anyone there. I was trying to find out if a longer coax could be had as 11' is kind of puny. Very disappointed in lack of support... just venting; sorry.

I'm sorry the customer service isn't as good as their products seem to be. I don't know it this will help but when I did all of the research to install my own internet support system I looked at a lot of different connectors to get it all working. This chart won't match your install but it might help you to identify which kind of connector you need. If any of them match what you've got you might find how to make yours longer.

Here is the supplied 11' coax from King. The red end slips into a hole in the antenna.

George, the connector on the left looks like an SMA Female or SMA RP Female connector. The pic is a little fuzzy but it looks like there's no pin in that one so it would connect to an SMA Male or SMA RP Male connector. It will take a little more research, but it looks to me that you could use a cable configured like this to lengthen your existing cable. You will likely need one longer than this but it's a start.

It might; King support called me and I asked why the short 11' coax in an RV WiFi application and he said the signal would attenuate too much with a longer cable prior to hitting the router. This changes where I had intended to mount my 4' extension mast. The mast will not be higher than other roof penetrations and then hopefully extend above them when fully extended.

Length and impedance are crucial considerations when choosing any kind of cable alteration to any transmitter/reciever.

True enough. If you are able to mount it all closer together you are definitely better off. Post pics when you're done.

I have the Hiboost cell antenna the King Swift wifi antenna on the same mast. Put it on the driver side of my camper and when in the lowered position the highest point (the whip Swift antenna) is about even with the roof line. When extended is about anything else on the roof 360 degrees.

I got the Swift wifi system fully installed today. Note to self... follow instructions. I got it set up and connected in seconds but no internet; couldn't find the DNS server and having been a sys admin many years ago with IBM I know how to do DNS stuff. What I forgot is that the router in the camper has to have connectivity with the WiFi source and once I read page 2, you basically scan for signals like a cell phone will search for available Wifi signals and you need to use the donating Wifi's password in the Swift router.

When done, they asked for a write up and I will get baseline 2.4G & 5G signal levels prior to going through the Swift antenna and router and after employing this equipment. I get perhaps one bar on my home 5G extended and maybe 2 bars on the 2.4G signal and can't use Wifi on my cell phone in the camper at home and can barely use it with the WiFi adapter/laptop. With the Swift, it was smoking. I have a 100 mb/sec fiber at home and an extender in the window of my home near the fiber router. I connect to the extender via WiFi (yeah I know about ethernet).

I ran a speed test using the new gear up in my camper on the same 5G signal going through the Swift hardware (and my home extender) and got almost 70 mb/sec download and upload. I haven't tested the 2.4 link yet.

Pictures will come once I get everything done tomorrow (knock on wood).
