Addition of Shock Absorbers

Anyone added shock absorbers to the fifth wheel axles?

My previous fiver (‘97 Jayco Eagle 323RKS) had them from the factory. I never really saw a big difference after I broke two mounts. Welder them back on and again didn’t feel much different. Would I add them to current rig? Probably not.

Well we saw a very noticeable difference in our current 5er when traveling over rough roads.

All the aftermarket shock kits I've seen were mounted at near a 45 degree angle to the axle, not sure how much good that would be to improve the ride when the axle moves straight up/down.
I also have a hard time understanding who's riding in the 5er to improve the ride for or how it improves the ride feel to the driver. Mine seemed to tow smoothly on all sorts of roads without shocks.
But if that's what you want or feel is needed I'm sure it can't hurt to have them.

Danny, while I agree to a point, if the shocks saved me from getting plates dropped on me every time I open the cupboard above the oven after traveling because I’m too senile to remember to be ready for it, it would be worth it!

I added shocks to my previous TT and my current FW. In both cases the benefit is only noticed on very rough roads and approaches/exits to bridges and railroad tracks. With both installations I was able to achieve ~35 degree shock angles.

I installed the RoadMaster 2460 Comfort ride shock kit on my current FW.
