Bed struts

We have a new Cougar and are happy to have storage under the Queen size bed. Unfortunately the struts that came with the fifth wheel are too weak to keep it raised. Would like to replace. Thinking either 110 lb strut or 120 lb strut. Any advice what to use?

We use a cut off broom stick. The price is right too! The struts are expensive, and in my opinion, dangerous when the let go unexpectedly.

Good Luck

What is the current charge on the struts (lbs.)? What size bed? OE mattress or replacement? I ask all that because I've done this multiple times....including again this evening. I'm collecting a small stack of struts just from the short time I've owned this trailer. This set should get it right.

As far as the broom stick vs a strut letting go; I've never had a strut in any application just let go suddenly without giving prior warning. On the other hand, I was helping a friend work on his car and he employed the same "broom stick" technique for his hood....then proceeded to knock it over while I was under the hood....nah, I'll deal with the struts - price isn't really too bad.
