Four wheel here too. Way less maintenance than a stuck two wheel drive. Plus low range is a lot easier on the park pin.

I know the new F450s only come in 4x4. Was this the case in 2008 as well, or was it actually an option?

Just as an aside - the cost of the urea (DEF) is minimal. Our truck uses a little less than 5 gals in 7500 miles. At a cost of $5.19 per gallon - that works out to $ 0.00346 (.346 cents) per mile. I don't care what brand of truck you buy - just wanted you to have all the facts. By the way, the DEF helps on your engine's overall fuel cosumption (no regeneration unlesss you idle/city drive a lot). Plus, cleaner air to breath - all good. JMHO - FWIW
There is a picture on the Ram trucks website that shows a fill up for urea right next to the fuel tank. Anyone care to explain this?

I bought my truck in Florida and never go "off roading", but I will always have a 4x4. To me it is just insurance for those rare moments when I might need it.

Never having to say "I wish I had" is enough for me.

07.5 thru 2012 6.7 do NOT use urea. Additional fuel injection event used to burn particulate in DPF.

2013 6.7 and newer DO use urea.

Thank you! I'm not up to date on the Ram truck line so I sincerely appreciate the clarification.

What does this have to do with 4x2 vs 4x4? Besides, who cares about urea and dpf's? Either you put in the jug (gm&ford) or you plug up the dpf(dodge) no bargains in any of them, but they all work for the most part.

4x4 here as well, and as for dpf on dodge the earlier cab chassis trucks did require dpf , maybe sense 11 or 12 . Just adding my 2 cents
