Solera Awning winding in slowly

We have a 2017 Passport 2510rb with a Solera awning. Our last camping trip, the awning rolled back in backwards. After a few attempts, we got it to roll back in correctly. Now the motor runs fine when putting the awning out but the motor struggles getting the awning to roll back in. We read about extending the awning too far and that it will then roll in backwards. I'm assuming that's what we did but now that it is rolling in so slow, do we need a new motor or is there something we have missed to fix it?

No one replied to my question but I wanted anyone having the same problem to have this information. The motor on our Solera awning died shortly after I wrote this. A gentleman by the name of Jeffery Miller gave me the following information on a Facebook forum for Keystone owners: a 1994 chevy lumina driver side window motor was a direct drop in. Rockauto had them in stock for 14.99. Installed it this morning and it works like a dream. It was a 10 minute job and the only extra items I needed was 2 blue female connector.

We bought the motor from Rockauto and it took just a few minutes to install it.Works great!!! The only difference in the motor is that the Lumina motor does not have the piece on it that allows you to manually roll the awning in if it fails. For the difference in price, it pays to buy an extra to have on hand.

Well...there you go. Now, one of the after market RV parts retailers will buy up Rockauto's remaining stock of Lumina window motors and then price them for the RV market making about a gazillion percent profit. Just like big Pharma?
What? Me cynical?

Glad you found a fix. High 5 from me. I'm sure this will help others out.

I'll monitor this thread going forward. We've not had a knock down drag out on Big Pharma yet, so who knows how nasty this could get. LOL. [emoji41]

1974-1994 I owned a farm tractor salvage yard. The tractor cab fan motors for the bigger tractors were an atrocious price - something around $500-$700+. We used to buy brand new Delco Remy motors, exactly what you would get from the implement dealer, for under $100. Just a wee bit of a markup...

Great tip, I had the same Problem and went on Rock Auto and purchased the least expensive one. Part # VL42005. It works great. Cost $13 + shipping
But you should look at, If you scroll down on the same search and you will find a Delco Part #11M17. This one has the "Unique Self-Locking Safety Design" Which may be the one we should buy. $36 + Shipping. Still a great savings form $215.
Hope this helps everyone.
