Hi,
I bought and am in the process of installing an E2 Hitch, Trunnion style to my TV/TT setup and need advice as to my procedure.
TV is a 1970 F250 4X4 with a Class III hitch rated at 600/6000 without/WD and 1000/10000 with WD.
TT is a 2013 Cougar 21RBS with advertised tongue of 500 and dry weight of 5285
I followed the instructions and this is my outcome of my measurements:
TV disconnected, Front = 42 1/8 Rear = 40 3/4
TV connected/No WD Front = 42 3/8 Rear = 39 5/8
TV connected w/WD Front = 41 3/4 Rear = 40
Instructions say that the rear connected w/WD measurement should be slightly lower than disconnected but noticeably higher than connected/No WD.
FYI: The trunnion bars are parallel. The TT is almost perfect level. I have the max number of supplied washers in the spacer rivet.
Interestingly, the passenger side trunnion bar has more tension on it than the driver's side
On a side note: For the past 2 years I have towed the TT without a WD hitch not realizing that I was beyond the spec's of the Class III hitch. Not until I joined this forum did I realiaze that the tongue weight and TT weights given were "DRY" weights!!!!
Just call me lucky!!
Comments welcome,.... have I set it up correctly?
