Inferior wheel grease?

On our last trip, we had stopped for a potty break. I did a walk around and found grease on the inside of the wheels. Upon further inspection the grease was coming from the outboard grease cap. I did jack it up and check bearing play and it was fine. I did notice that the grease was rather thin. My question is, is this normal for factory grease? And what are y'all using to replace it?

I'll have to check my 326 when I take possession. This grease won't run. I use it on everything.

Assume you have EZ Lube type spindles? I would try to pinpoint where it's coming from. Could be the cap to hub fit. Maybe use a bit of medium strength Loctite on the fit. Dexter sells replacement caps.
If you have the big chrome center cap you could remove the plastic end cap and be sure the rubber cap is fitting right. The rubber cap has a groove around the outer diameter that fits on the sharp edge of the hub cap. The very sharp edge of the hub cap. Like Band-Aid sharp.
