5ver Drain Pipe Support Bracket Repairs

After we returned from cruising around in this summer, I noticed that two of the metal straps that support the exposed PVC drain pipes had broken. The clamps around the PVC was still good so I picked up some 1/8 flat bar at the local Tractor Supply to build a couple of braces out of heavier material. My metal working skills suck, but its secure now. I believe that given the length of pipe, and that my black tank will slowly leak (thus the external twist on gate), that miles of bouncing along with waste water inside took a toll on the cheap easy to install straps. Pics are after replacing the left side one, showing the busted right side and the busted brackes/bar stock. The cost was about $5 for 36". Just wanted to pass this along as something to check on

Same thing just happened to me

Hi there. So the same thing happened to me with the gray tank. The black tank is fine but noticed that I can move the drain pipe up and down. Do you think the tank is busted? Wondering how I can tell. It seems the taps holding up the underbelly are not regular bolts.

I had a pipe hanger break while we were out west for a month last Sept. As a temporary fix, I used three heavy cable ties and tied it up. I put another 4000 miles or so on it before we got back home and it was still intact.

Permanent repair was a beam clamp and some 1/4" threaded rod cut to length and then lock nuts on the rod to keep them from vibrating loose.

I fabricated the bracket. It seems the tank never leaked. I used a thicker piece.
