Complete window replacement question

I shattered a window the other day and just got my replacement window frame with new glass. The frame has a rubber gasket with ribs installed from the factory. I am curious the install process, I generally would just use butyl tape but have never seen a gasket. Is the factory gasket sufficient? Or do I need to add additional sealants?

Thanks all

Just that rubber gasket is all you need on the frame. Lots of manufacturers use a sealant across the top and down the sides for additional protection.

All went well no leaks! However, my kitchen sink window is leaking, any reason I cannt remove it from the trailer, remove the old gasket and replace with Butyl tape?

Jim, Put together a signature with year, make and model of your camper and same for your tow vehicle. Under the UserCP top/left of every page and make sure you save it. It will allow answers to your questions to have a bit more context. I am sure I am not the only one who hasn't a clue what a 39 KBTS is. Good luck.

You sure can, but I would just install a new ribbed rubber gasket. Butyl and putty tape will “drip” over time.

We recently replaced a second window on our '16 Fuzion. Even though you're done and it all worked out, I wanted to throw in a comment. On two separate window replacements we did not receive a replacement gasket. We ended up reusing the old one which has worked out just fine on both windows. We've been in monsoonal rains in AZ and snow in Montana without leaks.

Happy travels!

Replacement windows don’t come with gaskets, at least every one I’ve gotten for over 10 years hasn’t . If yours aren’t leaking, I’m happy for you, we use new material (rubber gasket or tape) on EVERY replacement.
