Inverter question/troubleshooting

Equipment:

2022 Keystone Bullet 287QBS
SolarFlex 400
Inverter: Xantrex Freedom XC
VictronConnect controllers
All factory/dealer installed (thinking this may be my issue)

Issue: inverter powers up, fans run for 10-15 seconds and then turn off. Inverter remains on with no errors. All battery switches are on. No shore power connected. Batteries show 100% charge. Still don’t have any function in any inverter ready outlet. No power coming to bathroom GFI outlet.

Any ideas?

Call your installing dealer and tell them your system doesn't appear to be working properly if you are getting no electricity at the outlets associated with the inverter. I don't imagine they install bunches of inverters so I think this might be install error. There may be some magic fix like throwing a switch I don't know about as I don't own an inverter so someone may have something helpful but sure sounds like the dealer didn't even test the thing before handing it over to you after the install.

Also, put together a signature with year, make and moedel of your camper and the same for your tow vehicle. Upper left in black band on every page; UserCP and make sure you save it. Will allow folks answering to provide answers with better context for future questions.

Might seem silly, but did you make sure they actually wired the inverter output to the Romex wire heading outbound to your receptacles?

Thanks for the input on the issue and signature idea. Will definitely do so.

Nothing silly with the different things I’ve noticed they did or didn’t do…..but yes there is romex outbound to the living area. I guess one thing I need to do is pull an outlet to make sure it’s actually connected.

I would first verify inverter OUTPUT at the output terminals. There should be 120 VAC between the two. If there is power there, then follow the ROMEX to the next junction box and verify power in/out of that junction box. If there is power at the inverter output terminals, there is a problem with the ROMEX runs. If there is NO power at the inverter output terminals, the issue is either input power (12VDC) to the inverter or a failure of the inverter itself.

Not sure in 2002 there were too many rvs, other than big motorhomes, with factory installed inverters (DC to AC).
Are you the original owner? If not who knows how it was connected or how it was wired.
I'm not versed in make/models of electrical equipment, but are you sure your not looking at the "converter"? A converter (AC to DC) is equipped on all rvs to aid in powering 12 volt items as well as charge the batteries.

Good catch on the 2002. It’s actually a 2022. This is a Freedom XC inverter installed on this unit.

Good thought process. Was hoping I was overlooking something obvious but I guess my only route at this point is to pull readings and trace wires.

Is the bathroom GFI one of the circuits on the inverter feed? My understanding the typical factory inverter circuit feeds a bedroom outlet, an outlet by the TV and one in the kitchen but I may be wrong. Have you tested every outlet?

That’s correct. GFI in the bathroom is on the feed as well as living room tv, bedroom receptacles, kitchen receptacle and I think bunkhouse receptacle. I haven’t tested everyone but I have hit the kitchen, living room, bathroom and one of the bed room outlets.

Inverter question/troubleshooting

Maybe stupid question but are there circuit breakers on the inverter feeds? We just got a new Montana with 120v fridge. Also at least 5 inverter outlets. I tested by unplugging shore power and battery disconnect off and nothing. Shore power on tested pass through. Shore off and disconnect on tested 120 inverter.

But if somebody plugs a home vacuum and hair dryer into inverter outlets, say 40 amps, what happens? Does the inverter trip off then auto reset? Does something different happen if shore or battery?
