Light weigth frames
Ok this is something to check... anyone else have this issue?

I guess my question would be how heavy was your hitch, did you know your loaded hitch weight.

I don't think he mentioned his tongue weight, but that's a good question. People toss everything in their trailers, most of my heavy stuff will be in the back of my truck. No generator on the front, or the back for that matter.

Sure seems like a defective frame. It would take a massive amount of weight to bend that frame like that on a competent frame. I can't see a new, non corroded frame failing like his did unless he was just straight up hauling gold bullion in the front compartment.

I've built some trailers, and always run the entire length of the trailer with the main memeber, it makes the trailer much stronger.. this frame was .125" which wouldn't be on anything I build, but I learned the hard way when I bent the tongue on my first one on a set of railroad tracks.

A contributing factor to the youtube story was the camper had a weight distributing hitch installed. WDHs transfer stress to the frame area rearward of the hitch. Manufacturers recommend removing the WDH prior to going on unpaved surfaces. Hitting large potholes, speed bumps or other uneven surfaces can cause a structurally deficient frame to fail. A previously owned 2007 Weekend Warrior tow behind,required beefing up the frame due to a run of frames that were spec'd too light.

I agree.... Over loaded a trailer once with used rail road ties, hit a rail road crossing and bent that tongue..
