Brake Maintenance

So, I have a 2017 Laredo 5er and has original brakes. Now, we are not full timers and probably have gone 12K miles on it over those 5 years. I had the bearings serviced about 2yrs ago and I know they're overdue. I'm going to DIY this time around but wanted to know if I should just go ahead and order my brake assemblies & get er done in one shot or if I should wait to inspect them first?? Our last trip in November, they seemed perfectly fine. However, we are planning on a few month long trips in June/July this year and want it to be ready to go.

Let me know your thoughts.

I'd do it before the weather gets hot.

12,000 miles is not a lot of "brake use" if your brakes are properly adjusted and not "accidentally wearing because they're adjusted too tight"...

I'd pull the hubs, inspect the brakes and go from there. Chances are very good that you will not need to replace them and buying them "on a hunch" is, or at least can be, a complete waste of money.

I agree with John. Wait and check your brakes when you pull your hubs and adjust or replace if needed.
