Directv hookup

I wrote about this before but was hoping if I gave more info someone could help. We have a bullet premier 29rkpr that is prewired for satellite. We purchased a directv portable swim sl3s satellite. It has a power inserter. Directions say to hook up coax from sat dish to power inserter and then from this to receiver. Naturally I would prefer to hook coax from satellite to my outside connection so I don't have to run it thru a window. Could I connect the satellite coax to outside connection and then put the power inserter inside my TT next to the receiver and connect my inside coax to power inserter and then to receiver and to tv? Does anyone have this satellite system? Thank you for your assistance.

I'm not a satellite guy, so I will be no help with your set up. But I can ask clarifying questions with the best of them![emoji41]

Have you tried what you are asking about? It may or may not work, but no harm in trying.

Hooking up satellite is one of the most frustrating things our members try to do. There are a lot of variables in the hookups. Satellite will not go through a regular splitter and must use special splitters designed for satellite use. That's one variable.

I'd suggest listing your model and year, setting it up as you suggested, and draw out a diagram of it. If it works, great. If not post it (the diagram) and see what kind of responses you get to try. You have to start somewhere. Hope this helps a little.

Getting ready to try the same thing this coming weekend (I also have a 29RKPR). I plan on running the dish through the rear connection and putting the power inserter in next to the TV. I'll let you know.

That's how mine is run, and the DirecTV works fine. I have 2 external connections on mine: 1 for satellite, and the other for cable. There is a coax cable from the dish to "satellite in" external hookup, and then I have a cable from the satellite wall plate to the inserter by the TV.
