Baby/kid proofing

I have a keystone travel trailer that has a double bunk. Rather then bringing a pack and play that takes up space for my 18 month old I would like to secure/trap him on the bottom bunk during night time. Has anyone ever thought or done this? Tips and suggestions welcome. [emoji12]

Do they still make the side rails that tuck under the mattress?

I've seen one of those expanding plastic baby gates used.

That was my thought too. They used to make them where they fold up and wouldn't take up a lot of room.

When our children were young many years ago, we made a custom "net" that attached to the base of the bed and buckled to the ceiling, the full width of the opening. It gave more comfort to the DW than fulfilling an actual need, but her peace of mind counted too.

Some C class MHs use the same system for their over the cab beds.

Sun Seeker by Forest river does that. The buckles are like seatbelt buckles so they jay seem bulky. Maybe a cargo net with hooks in the corners would work good.
