Some Neat Pictures

These aren't my photos, heck, mine never seem to come out, but these are some photos of the Mackinaw Bridge, about 40 miles north of us, with Lake Huron/Lake Michigan frozen out for several thousand feet. The interesting part, at least for me, is the Aurora Borealis the photographer captured. I'm no expert, but they say that green is the most common color, yellows and purples next and red is the rarest color seen. I've only seen a red borealis once, that was back in the early 80's. They are a common site in the northern skies, usually any clear night during the winter is "prime time" if you're patient.

These were taken from Mackinaw City (the southern shore of Lake Huron, looking north toward St Ignace) just 10 days ago, on January 21, 2016, so yes, it's cold up here LOL

Love the pix - someday my wife and I are going to be able to view it. Bridge and lake really make the look even better.

Very cool pix. Thanks for sharing. The bridge/lights DO make it really pretty. On the other hand, that looks like more snow and ice than I need to be in. It was 84 here today and I think I'll go with that

Nice pics, I took a trip this last September to Michigan for the Oregon state/Michigan game and played a lot of golf all over the state including coming up there and playing bay harbor, the Bear in traverse city, and many others. What a beautiful spot of the country.
