5th Wheel Length Question

Well with true retirement coming very quickly in 3 months DW and I have decided to upgrade from our 21RB to a 277RL 5th wheel. I was wondering how much of the actual trailer length ends up over the bumper and in the box.
I am kind of hoping that all things said and done with my new tow vehicle and the 5er on behind that it will be about the same length as I am towing now.

Certainly do appreciate any replies and thanks in advance

Dan

Dan, Chances are you may be shorter. Remember, the pin will be just slightly ahead of your rear axle, so depending on whether your new TV is a long or short bed, at least 4' of the 5r is in the bed and most of the old tongue length is gone also. I was surprised when we went from our TT to the 5r ..... but when you drop it , it does take more room in the driveway. ( If you went from a standard cab truck to a crew cab your numbers may change) JM2¢, Hank

since you have a 5th wheel picked out it isn't difficult to just measure it. but you will probably be shorter than what you are now.

measures 30' 2"

I always thought there was approximately an 8' difference between 5th wheel and bumper pull. So a 22' bumper pull should be about the same overall length as a 30' fiver.
Think I was told that by the Raptor salesman, I never verified it myself.

I would say 4-5ft shorter because of the bed overhang. Of course the new rig will tow a lot more solid than a tt as well
