King pin stabilizer
Curious about these and whether they are actually needed or not?

I bought one but I haven't used it. Supposedly they help stabilize it a little better but not completely.

The kingpin tripods do some good but I would recommend you invest your money into the Steady Fast system......You will not be disappointed.

I used to have a king pin tripod and it worked well but was cumbersome, heavy and took up storage. I sold it when I installed Bal locking stabilizer bars on the landing gear and rear scissor Jacks.
The trailer has very little movement and nothing to set up and store.

As suggested above, I'd opt for one of the two or three stabilizing systems that are fixed to the frame and landing jacks. Steadyfast, JT Strongarm and Bal are the ones I'd suggest that you consider installing rather than the tripod. The tripod isn't as effective and is, IMO, a nuisance to store and haul around.

FWIW, I have had and used a tripod kingpin stabilizer since 1998. Used in conjunction with X chocks, it kept my 36' Jayco steady enough that my DW didn't complain. Stowed easy on the basement and didn't take any longer to set up than someone having to bend down and tighten the T screws on bars...BUT to each their own.

My new rig has the six point leveling system. we haven't taken delivery yet so im not aware of its stability. Does the six point make a difference or am I going to be spending some more money on one of these systems?

I installed the Stedyfast system on my 2012 Cougar X-Lite 29RES. The stability improvement was tremendous, we also have started using jacks under the bottom step which helps remove the bounce when going in and out of the camper. DW very happy !!!

I have the four point on my 2015 Cougar and it is great. lots less wiggle and bounce than in our previous trailer. I can only guess, but I think six point will be better than four. Try it before spending more money on something you may not need.

I put the Steady Fast Stabilizers on my 2013 Cougar XLite and they worked great. Only a minor amount of movement remained. Our Montana HC has the 4 point Level Up system with only a minimal amount of movement.
