New member with slide out questions

My name is Rick and I own A 2010 Keystone Cougar Xlite RLS
I pull it with my newest truck 2014 Ram 2500 6.4 Liter which does a really good job by the way I do also use the equalizer tow hitch just to minimize any sway . Well the latest Thing is the slide out motor is not functioning as it should again . something inside the motor is not letting it engage this happened before and a pin came out of the motor and jammed in the gears this time it happened because we were going to go camping for 4 days on Thursday .I was trying to find out if this is a common problem?

Sorry to hear about your issue. Some motors don't last as long as others. Be sure you have your bypass available in case you need it.

Tell me more about this bypass I assume it is a drill and hex under the belly where the motor is?

If you look underneath your RV at a point (usually on the passenger side) and in line with the front edge of the slide, there may be a small cut out in the black coroplast underbelly covering.

On our Cougar, it is about 1 ft in front of the passenger side front wheel and about 18in in.
The cutout is a "flap" held in place by plastic ties.

Inside this small "door" is the motor and the nut that you would turn to retract or extend the slide.

I believe it is a 3/4" nut.

The location for your main slide's manual retraction may be different however.

Keystone has a video for a different type of slide retraction/extension. Check out their website to view this.

Also make sure your drills are either charged or do as I do, bring an extension cord and 110v drill with you. Good Luck.
