Pulling over a curb = damage to axles?

Over 4th of July we went to a new campground. It was tight in and out. The only way was to pull one side of the trailer up and over a 5-6" curb.

I did this very, very slowly and easy. So my question or concern is, could I have done any damage to axles, frame, etc.?

On the drive home on the freeway at 60 I did not notice anything out of the ordinary. Checked tires before and after, no noticeable damage.

Thoughts and ideas are appreciated.

I doubt it, if as you say you eased it over the curb.

if you went slow and easy and the angle wasn't too bad you should be fine. The suspension should be able to absorb the curb without any problems, not much different than lifting it to change a tire.

If you did it slowly as you say...I would tell the dw that you need to check it out grab a chair and a cold one and relax while she tinks your workin hard! don't forget to grunt and bang on something you should be fine. think what that suspenssion goes through on the road a 55mph!

So Cal CPA, Howdy;

Hitting a fair sized pothole is worse for things suspension related.
Helpful hint, place some 2X's on the low side of the curbing, helps
create a ramp-like effect for the tires to walk up. easier for things
all the way around.

If you did any damage on that curb going slow, you would have lost the axle by now!! While not the rock solid axle undet the TV, they atr not made of glass!!

It was smart to check the tires after hitting or going over a curb, pulling a rv it is going to happen at some point. As long as there was no goose egg on the side wall or split valve stem sounds like no damage. I have done both to tires.

I store my Laredo on the side of my house and back over the curb all the time. Did the same with my Outback I had for 9 years. Do it slow at an angle and it's no problem. Never had uneven wear or a blowout. Potholes are much harder on your axles.

Howdy All;

Another reason for building a ramp of sorts is to protect the curb itself.
They are not tied to the the road surface and can be 'rocked' out of position
by vehicles riding up and over them.
I don't know what your streets and roads department is charging for replacing
curbing, just know I don't want to find out either...
