Third axel lock-up
With a 341 tg having 2 6000 lb axes at rated weight and double towing a single axel 3 quad trailer with a 3rd 6000 lb behind that at 3200 lbs (50% load) causing single axel to lock up while breaking with no way to adjust it. Has anyone have a fix for this??

I would adjust the brakes on the single axle so the brakes stop but not lock up. There is an adjuster that is accessed from the inside of the brake backing plate. It will be on the bottom and usually has an oval shaped rubber plug. They adjust the same as drum brakes on a car or truck.

Does the second trailer have surge brakes or electric??? You should be able to adjust either type. Just that surge are much more unpredictable.

Did not think to just simply adjust brakes, possibly I was looking for a reduced voltage resister in the electric break system if such a thing exist . I am worried the possibility if I back off the slack adjuster in the event of a accidental disconnect would the trailer stop on its own ?

The second trailer has to have a disconnect switch and a battery to stop the trailer if it disconnects. They make systems for small trailers with electric brakes. Here is an example:

They make a 12 volt resistor that you can put on your 2nd trailer, then just wire in your breakway switch behind it to give full power to trailer if where to become disconnected...
Go to Google images and you will find them there, years ago when all we had was the brake controller that use to connect into the hydraulic braking system before the abs system came along, we use to use the spring resistor with the slide bar to adjust the power to the trailer brakes,

Check the magnets there are different magnets for 5000lb 5200lb and 6000lb axles, the Dexter web site will tell you what you have by the colour of the magnet wires. you may just have to either increase the magnet on the 1st trailer or reduce on the second then re adjust the controller. Do you have a mix of Dexter and Alco axles hope this makes sense. I looked into this as I have 5200lb axles and plan to increase the braking by installing 6000lb magnets

Ron, I will look into a low voltage slide resistor for better adjustability and then wire the breakaway to bypass it in case all goes sideways. Thanks all
