Planning a trip

Planning a trip in our Fuzion 322 with three kids and a DW that I think is just humoring me about this vacation idea. It will be over the Christmas break and we will travel from New Jersey to Florida. Looking for opinions on campgrounds and any other insight.

Figured we would leave bright and early and I would drive to Myrtle beach and we would stay at ocean lakes campground for two days. Has anyone stayed there in December? Will it be unbearable from a weather standpoint by the water in the winter?

After two days drive to Orlando and stay at the Kissimmee KOA so that we can visit Sea World.

After two days drive down to the Boyton Beach area and stay at the Lion Country Safari KOA. This is where my parents are so hoping to have the kids stay with them for a few days. We will stay there for four days.

Any suggestions on the way back. Not sure if we would just go back to ocean lakes and just stay a night to rest or we should try another campground in GA and do two days, but I figure we will be ready to get home.

AM I CRAZY!!!!!

Any input would be helpful.

Yep

Yep, you are certified NUTS to take that trip in December with everyone and his/her bro heading for FL for a few days break.

Fly your parents to NJ and if you want to continue your nutso journey, head for the Jersey shore where you can save fuel and freeze faster than in FL.

Sit back, have a brewski, and ask yourself: Why?

Thumbs up Yep

Hey dario
If your driving I-95 and want to stay at a nice campground in GA, try Fort McAllister SP and Historical Site just south of Savannah in Richmond Hill at exit 90. Camping on an Island with electric and water, lots of trees and things for the kids to do. $28 a night and the manager, Danny Brown is a very interesting guy to talk to. Crabbing and fishing and a lot of history.

Sounds like a fun trip to me, but I like the crazy trips. We did Ocean Lakes last year the day after Christmas for 5 days it was great! Now we had a super mild winter last year so not sure if that is the norm. Never Camped in Orlando at that time of year but I've been down there a lot in Dec. and Jan and it is hit or miss some times its great others not so much. I say go for it sounds like a good time to me.

Georgia has some very nice state parks, I will 2nd Ft McCallister but there are plenty others to that yield some side trips like GA veterans up near Cordele. The Andersonville National POW memorial is there at the site of the CW prison

If you want to stop in S.C. call ahead and see if James Island County Park has any openings full hookups. They also decorate the whole park for Christmas 3 miles of lights and train rides. You will have to call a see if they have any cancellations though.
