raising electric awning height

We have set up our trailer on a seasonal site and just spent the weekend building a deck at the height of the bottom of the sliding glass door so we can walk right out on to it. It rained on Sunday so we put the awning out and realized that it comes down way too low over the deck. The awning instructions just give info about lowering a corner for rain flow but there's nothing about raising it up higher. One thought is can we leave it not fully extended, or is that not good for the awning? At least that way we could stop it before it goes down so low. Or does anyone know if you can push it up and tighten those knobs to keep it up higher? We didn't want to try anything and risk ruining it.
Thanks,
parkgirl
