Copart auction
Kinda interesting if a person needed parts and didn’t mind getting rid of the carcass afterwords. The cedar creek fifth in the video was a rollover ..crazy how they towed it from the wrecking yard ..paid $375 and looks like they have air cond units and probably quite a few other parts. Probably a real pain to get rid of what’s left over
I went on the site and they had quite a few rv’s available

Hi Jasin,
Thanks for posting this.
Never gave much thought to what happens to RV's involved in accidents, and it sure seems there would be a lot of usable parts salvaged from one.
Take care!

Might I ask what you would do with the 'carcass' upon completion?

I would think the only way to make it viable would be a lot of inexpensive land (think desert), cheap labor, and "local" customers. For the market price of used components by the time you invest in the labor to test, remove, and ship a "used" component I don’t know how much money would be left for profit.
A wrecked trailer would be questionable in my mind as to how much would left that's useable.
Obviously the frame and suspension are trash, they barely survive the roads during "normal" operations. Slide mechanicals, no, all twisted up as are door and window frames most likely. A/C units or fridge? With major g forcres applied I wouldn't trust one. I can’t imagine the ROI (if it even exists) would be worth it.

Probably spend $1000 for dumpster and labor lol
I just thought it was interesting..but I did drive 500 miles to get a factory extended swim platform for my boat that wasn’t available until the next year for my boat..was no longer available from factory.
Was a$15000 option and I paid I think $400 for it from a boat that a guy was “reimagining”
I guess if there was something like the fiberglass front cap or other mostly intact hard to get item it may be an option.

Believe me, anything for a boat is worth the drive. Yes, we still get the Itch.

There is a "sticky" in the Repairs and Maintenance section of the forum. https://www.keystoneforums.com/forum...ad.php?t=12986
It lists a number of sources for "difficult to find" parts for RV's....
There is a "network of RV salvage yards" that do source used/salvage parts for trailers. While the "network" is not as sophisticated as with auto/truck salvage yards that have a computer data link to locate a specific part, the RV salvage yards do communicate on "parts that bring enough profit to make the search worthwhile"....
Additionally, many RV repair centers that repair damaged RV's will buy "insurance claim totals" for pennies on the dollar, disassemble them and sell the parts at a HUGE profit.... That's the way Bontrager's got started.
