It is NOT the combined weight of TV and camper, it is the weight of the TV only. If the TV has a GVWR of more than 26,000 pounds, you need a CDL.

Your truck is probably in the 6500 to 7500 weight range. I know people that use a single rear axle Freightliner tractor to tow their 44 foot 5er. Their Freightliner has a GVWR of 24,500 pounds, so no CDL is needed. They have been full timing for 10 years. The only place they are concerned about is California, as they have some weird laws.

Class A Non Commercial
Authorizes an individual to drive:

Single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more
A combination of vehicles with a GCWR of 26,001 pounds or more provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds
