Dometic Fridge Drain Hose Issue?

I began noticing white streaking around the lower outside refrigerator vent. The fridge is an 8 cf Dometic, gas/electric, mounted in the slide. I am not sure of the model # as the manual I have covers multiple units and I won't be back to the trailer for a few days to check. The streaks have the appearance of forming while moving as they 'swoosh' towards the rear.

I have read some posts here and elsewhere that this could be just normal drainage, or it could be caused by a disconnected drain hose or one that is not properly placed in the evaporator cup.

Will I be able to see if the hose is properly connected by removing the exterior vent covers or does the fridge need to be pulled out?

Or......is this much ado about nothing and a common occurrence?

You should be able to look up behind the fridge and see where the hose is connected. Might have to snake your camera on the phone up there and snap a picture. Does yours drain into a cup or is the drain hose supposed to be routed outside through the access cover?

Not sure how it drains. I don't recall seeing any type of hose when I've had the vent cover off, but wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for anyway, so it very well could be there.

Is the configuration one of the two?....either a hose routed to the cup or a hose routed in such a way that drainage flows to the outside?

I guess a good start (since I'm not with the trailer) will be to Google and find some pics so I have a better understanding of what I'm looking for!

Dometic refers drain to the lower vent/access panel. Norcold uses a cup mounted to the back of the refer.

Thank you....was just reading that very same info elsewhere.

So that would indicate what I'm seeing is the refrigerator draining as intended?

I viewed the install manual (not positive what model I have offhand - but I believe it may be the DM2872) and it discusses various drainage routes. One method allows drainage directly thru the louver - but I'm 99% positive I never had a hose protruding, even slightly, thru the louver.

Is it possible and correct that the hose could simply be pointed downward directly into the outside compartment/vent area, and not run thru the louver?

There's a tray under the cooling fins inside the fridge that captures the condensation. Then the tray drains into a small hole in the back of the fridge and into the hose which then drains to the outside of the trailer through the access cover.

I've attached a few pictures of mine.

They show the drain tray inside the fridge with the drain hole on the left side, the hose connection in the back of the fridge, the hose as it comes down from behind the fridge, and the hose sticking out from the access cover. Sorry for the orientation on some of them.

I have seen the drain tube attached to the frame of the lower access panel.

The hose could be just hanging in the back of the fridge which is not what you want because the water will leak down into the floor area under the fridge, not good. You want it routed so it drains outside.

OK guys, thanks for all the info. I'll check it out more thoroughly when I get to the trailer.
