Not great pics, but it's done. The FillRite pump on top....

And the gravity flow on the bottom...

I installed a 60 gallon S&B tank in my 2018 SB F350. I did it myself in a couple of hours. With Forscan I was able recalibrate the tank size. A little pricey $1300.00, IMO it was absolutely necessary for any long distance travel.

Jim "I will paint it black too so that it matches the truck" I recommend you contact Sherwin-Williams Commercial Sales and talk to them about your prep and a proper primer. Yes, scuffing the surface may be in order, but regardless of the price of a quart of the proper primer it will return dividends. And don't fall for any spray cans of anything from your friendly hardware sales store.

No valve to mess with, and you don't loose bed space.

I looked also and biggest was 55 gallon, that would give me an extra 200 miles or so, but $1,350 is a bit of a price to pay.

Depends on the pressure.. We sandblast 1/8" (0.125) aluminum often for some applications.

I've used the Sherwin-Williams spray on metal primer before painting metal house doors with a fine roller and they've turned out awesome, almost look professional.

I don't know how well it will work, but I used a ScotchBrite abrasive pad to rough up the entire surface that I primered and then applied a spray on bedliner to. I guess we'll see how it holds up.

Those tool boxes are only around .045-.060. I suppose as long as a very experienced guy was doing it it might possibly work out, but I would bet on it.

The RDS 60 gallon "L" shaped aluminum tank that I just purchased is .125 thick and the mounting tabs are .187 thick. I don't believe a sandblaster would do much damage on that.

Blasting media, pressures and equipment will decide your success. Tool outlets like Harbor Freight sell low-end blasting equipment which would do little damage to such a tank, provided air pressure stayed below 50-60 pounds and blasting media stayed in the washed river sand variety.
Drop the tank off at your friendly industrial blast site, turn them loose at 110 PSI and Flint-brasive and your tank will come back in a Kroger bag.

Do you have to put wax on it to protect from diesel fuel damaging the paint? I read that diesel is pretty corrosive to paint in general but that the wax on your vehicle usually provides protection if wiped off quickly..
I was wondering if a can of brush on bed liner would work on these tanks?

As I stated earlier, I used a ScotchBrite pad to ruff up the surface areas that I was going to paint....then

I used the Rustoleum brand automotive self etching primer in a spray can...two coats and let that thoroughly dry. Then I used the Rustoleum brand automotive Professional grade truck bed coating spray...two coats and let that thoroughly dry. It actually had a week to dry before I started the install of the tank. Not because I thought I needed that much time, but because we had some rainy weather and I just couldn't do it any sooner.

I do believe that diesel fuel on top of the bedliner coat would damage it, if let without being wiped off, but it's not like it instantly will soften or dissolve it. So I make sure that if any fuel gets dropped on it, it gets wiped up right away. I'm not sure about putting any type of wax or clearcoat on top of the bedliner spray....it may work, it may not. But for now, I'm happy with it and can easily make touchups if it does get diesel fuel on it and causes an issue.

I ordered the RDL 60 gallon tank on March 17. I have been told now after almost 2 months from Tank and Barrel that they are waiting for more orders for the tank to be made before they will make it. Any suggestions.

I used the R & B fuel tank on my 2018 F350 it was a direct replacement 60 gallon tank. I installed it myself not a problem doing it it comes with great instructions and very helpful customer service, I also used there scan tool to change the miles to empty at no cost extremely happy with the tank and company the draw back was the cost 1300.00 but I’m glad I done it.

From what has been told from everyone it sounds like it will work great. Did it take this long to receive the tank.
