Our company reported an issue related to the winter storm that affected Texas and New Mexico, it appears that the DEF at some of the truck stops there had frozen and refrozen during the storm(s) and apparently this caused a separation of the urea and water.
Anyway, at least one of our trucks shut down due to the sensors picking up the issue. The sensors won't allow tampering with the mix. I knew this as some folks have tried to use straight water to get around the cost of DEF but this is the first I've heard of it having issues related to freezing weather.
The northern states have heaters that prevent this. Southern states do not it appears. So we are to avoid getting DEF in those two states for the present time.
