Bunk room slide out issue

The bunk house slide is sticking, jumping and grabbing when sliding out. When it is pulled back in it jumps, grabs, drags and the. Tilts in very badly to where the top of the slide almost hits the roof of the trailer inside.

Outside you can see in the upper left area of the pop out it is grinding up against something it’s causing the metal to scratch and the upper left corner seal is ripping.

What is going on and how do I fix this?

I didn’t have this issue before we drove it home (it’s never been on the road but only moved to RV spot then parking lot - maybe 500-600 feet 2x a year) which is an hour and 8mins away. A lot of things moved, fell or came apart (bedroom doors fell off track) which I expected but was hoping not.

Your help is appreciated. Bummed this is happening as I just purchased the trailer

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you're having issues with your slide out. It would be very helpful if you would give some information on the year, make and model of the trailer. It's easy to go to the top left of the page and click on "UserCP", then edit. That's where you can add a signature. Most folks list the year, make and model of their trailer and their tow vehichle. That information helps those wanting to help you by avoiding the back and forth asking those questions.

Enjoy the forum.

What kind of slide is it - cable, ram etc.? You need to get up on, over and under it to see exactly what looks off kilter and then you can start to assess what's going on. If it's a cable slide and 13 years old I would not be surprised if you don't have a broken/frayed cable, pulley pulled loose, cables out of adjustment etc.

A picture would be beneficial. While the slide is in, hold your phone over the wood trim and take a pic.

It’s a hydraulic slide out system. Called Lippert Hydraulic Slideout System. States it’s a rack n pinion guide system utilizing a hydraulic actuator to move the room.

I would be very surprised if that Springdale trailer has a hydraulic slide. Springdale is the "lowest budget trailer" that Keystone produced during those years and it was a "bare essentials" brand. That means it likely has the Lippert through the chassis rails electric ram slide system. I'd suspect the problem your facing is wear on the plastic wheels that support the slide. They are attached to the frame rails, under the slide, where the rams project through the frame. There will be two plastic wheels )one on each side of the drive gear) on each ram (total of 4 wheels with 2 gear sets).

The slide rail gear packs are available from any RV service/parts dealership or many online parts houses. They are available on Amazon for around $50 each. You'll need two gear packs for a total of around $100 for the parts.

Before you order anything, make sure these are your problem, but I'm fairly sure you'll find the plastic wheels are cracked/worn and no longer supporting the slide as it moves into the trailer on the wear bar.
