Add Vent Fans

Hi All,

I have 4 vents in my 2020 Passport 3100QB, only the bathroom has a fan in the vent. I would like to add fans to the other 3, how difficult would that be? I'm hoping, just by chance the wiring would already be there.

Thank You

Vents with fans are readily available at just about any RV source. Or go to Amazon and search for "RV vent fan" and you will get a host of options.

I would guess that most vent openings will NOT be pre-wired for fans, but I may be wrong. Pick the site you most want to have a fan, then pull the internal liner off of the existing vent. You may be able to tell with a simple inspection if there are any wires in close proximity. Otherwise, you may need to pull wires and get power from (hopefully) adjacent 12V sources (like lights). Remember that you have 2 features to consider; 1) power at the vent to power the fan motor, and 2) access to the controls to turn the fan on/off. If the thing is 10' up in the ceiling, you may need a remote switch or remote control just to turn the fan off/on.

Good luck in your investigation!

Hi, welcome to the forum!

Rather than add multiple weak fans, check your vents for a 12 volt hook-up. Drop the garnish ring and check. I'll bet at least one has 12v. This is where I'd put a heavy duty vent fan. There are several brands.

Good Luck,

Neither my bedroom or rear family room vent had 12V wiring. I found power and just ran new wiring. I have MaxAir powered vents at opposite ends. Since they both are bi-directional I can pull in cool air with one and push out hot air with the other.

Thanks everyone for the information. I did do a quick look and found a green and white wire by the vent in the living area and a pink and white wire to the bathroom vent. I have a switch the turns on a group of lights in the living area, so I’m assuming that’s what the green and white wire is for, which means the fan would only work with the lights on and that’s okay.
Any ideas on where I can find a wiring diagram? I can always swing by the camper service shop and ask.
Thanks again and happy camping.

If your trailer is new enough, keystone publishes a list of color codes used. They don’t publish a schematic.

As referenced by Chuck in his message, if your trailer has the iN.Command system, here is a copy of the Keystone wiring color code standard.
12-vdc-wire-standard-keystone-rv.pdf

You will not find any "wire diagrams" for a Keystone trailer. If they even have them, they do not provide them to the consumer or the dealers.
