Dump Light

Silly question...We just purchased a 2017 Passport 175bh. I noticed there is a light above the grey and black dump valves. The problem is I don't know how to turn it off. If every light on the trailer is off this one stays on. Plugged into shore power or not? Everyone I talk to says the porch light should turn it on and off. This unit doesn't really have a porch light but it does have a led strip but turning it on or off does nothing. I've looked everywhere for a switch including on the light itself. Any help would be awesome thank you!

Is your battery still connected?

Yes it is still connected. I have a 30amp plug wired in my pole barn so I don't have to worry about the battery going dead or anything. Its just driving me nuts. I can't see them hardwiring a light in with no switch at all. The only way I can get it to turn off is to not have it plugged into shore power and disconnect the battery.

If you have a "convenience" center for fresh water/ cable and such, the switch might be in there.

I would suggest reading owners manual but its so vague you might call dealer or Keystone for right answer, otherwise disconnect battery connect to battery tender and call it a day!

I have read the owners manual and it does not even mention this light.

Owners manuals are generic at best. Didn't your selling dealer at least give you a walk through, demonstrating everything? If not then that's the first call I would make in the morning. Surely some tech PDI'd it and tried every switch.

Some of the lights actually have the switch on them. Check all around the base and around it. There has got to be a way to turn it off. Maybe even in a storage compartment? The search is on! Good luck!

Our old Rockwood had an issue with the warning light for the propane gas. It ended up being wired wrong. The dealer after replacing it twice, checked the wiring, contacted Forrest River and it was a issue on other Rockwood of this model. Go back to the dealer. That's what warrents and dealers are all about. Good luck.

Maybe it's one of those lights that you press in and out to turn it on and off?

Try pulling fuses or opening breakers until you determine which one protects the light and note if any other devices go off and if not control it that way until you find a switch.

OK problem is solved. The awning light is supposed to turn the courtesy light above the dump valves on and off. Unfortunately when my trailer was wired someone switched two sets of wires around (the led awning light and power in were switched) so the two wires that were supposed to be connected were the two lights then to switch instead the power and the courtesy light were connected then ran to the switch. So the courtesy light always had power( AND NO FUSE!) but the switch still worked for the led awning light. Starting to think my camper was built on a Friday or a Monday.

Dump Light

Or just a newbie.

The fuse would be in the breaker panel, may not be a separate fuse.

Easy fix is to buy a light that has the switch on it.

They'll call it an improvement and charge extra for the feature...I can see it now, Dump at NIGHT when there are no crowds. Why be tied up in a long line? We're the only company who has this forward thinking amazing technological advanced nocturnal dumping station...

My fix was to remove the bulb since I do not plan to empty tanks in the dark.

I have a Passport 23RB, my amber dump light goes on and off with the awning light switch (LED strip).

Is it a round (puck like) looking light? If so, there should be a dot in the center of the light. It pushes in and out. That's the on/off switch.

You could also consider a battery mounted disconnect switch. Tis what I did. About 22$ It allows everything drawing on the battery at rest to be disconnected in one fell swoop.
