My New Tow Vehicle
Well I was finally able to pick up my 2015 Ford F-350 Super Duty DRW 4X4 CC Lariat. I got the 4.30 Ratio axle as well as 5th wheel prep, camper package, high capacity tow package, dual alternators. Had a great time going out for a nice long drive with the wife. Looking forward to hauling the Montana with her.

I already have the trailer. We trained in the gas motor home for a 2015 Montana 3710FL. The truck has a little over a 100 miles now. How many miles does it need until I can tow the 5th wheel?

Nice rig...kind of wished I would have waited 30 more days to get the 2015 but I could not resist that extra $5K off the 2014 in rebates. Only thing I am giving up is the better enhanced rear gear which I do not need since I am only pulling 14,500. I heard they made some other little minor changes that improved a few things. I am still happy as hell with mine..Congrats and drive safe out there!!!

Great looking rig. Now to wipe the drool off my keyboard. ;~)
I'm in the looking stage for a TV and a fifth wheel to follow the TV.
Getting back on the road after a 20 year hiatus.
Safe travels to you.

We recently looked at a 3710 FL and really liked the floor plan. I couldn't get my wife out of it until I convinced her that we don't have enough truck to comfortably pull it. The salesman was no help in that regard. "SURE, you can tow it. No problem ". You have a very nice combination there.

Well here is my Tow Report. We were able to get just under 500 miles before we picked up the new trailer. We left Las Vegas heading to Parker AZ. The first stop was the scales. I went through the Fifth Wheel St site and ran through their worksheet. So the truck with full fuel the wife, myself, the dog and the hitch was at 5220 Front, 3940 Rear and GVW was 9160. The truck and trailer were, 5340 Front, 6920 Rear, 11140 trailer axle and the Combined Gross Wt was 23400. So my trailer weighs in at 14240 with a 22% king pin wt of 3100. I was very happy, well with in all limits. This truck has 35000 GCWR, 14000 GVWR and at GTWR of 26500. My trailer GVWR is 16,500. So we headed south to Parker. We got to the El Dorado Dry Lake Bed and the cross winds were up to 30-40 mph with a thunderstorm blowing across. We hit heavy wind not quite at a cross wind but the truck and trailer held straight. I dropped my speed to 50 mph and took it easy for a bit. Once out of the wind we held 65 mph the rest of the way. No big grades but it got 10.2 mpg for the trip. So my new clean truck and trailer arrived full of road wash and dirty. Made it safe and had a great time getting it all set up. Here is a pic of the truck and trailer.

I just ordered mine should be in in 6-8 weeks. Needed it to tow our new Lifestyle Alfa Gold Side Hauler 40ft long and 18,000 empty. The DW needed the side hauler for a sewing room.

I'm not sure what your owners manual says, but I would put at least 1,000 miles on it before towing a heavy 5th. Also, my Ford manual advises that if you tow, you should use 5w-40 CJ4 oil. That will be a synthetic oil. My dealer wanted to use Motorcraft 10w-30 dinosaur oil in mine. I buy synthetic Rotella 5w-40 and take it to the dealer and buy their filters. Changing oil at the dealer has the advantage of being documented in the Ford system if there is ever a question about warranty work later on. My local dealer has a "Fast Lane" that only charges $11 labor for an oil change. No appointment needed.
