Red face Black Tank flush feature question

I have a Keystone Sprinter 2015 with a black tank flush feature. When I picked up the RV I was told that I should always have the black tank valve OPEN when using the black tank flush, however when I read articles about cleaning out the black tank, it states to close the black tank valve and refill the black tank using the black tank flush (adding fresh water to the black tank) until it is full again and then open the black tank valve again to really clean it out. Can anyone tell me if there is any danger in doing this? It would seem logical to me but the dealer said not to do it. Before I had a flush feature, I would close the black tank valve and fill the black tank with fresh water using a hose down the toilet (specific hose for that purpose) then open the valve to empty it. What is the right thing to do?

One of the problems that sometimes happen IF you close the black tank drain valve and use the black tank flush at the same time is the possibility of you getting distracted and over-filling the black tank.

I'm not sure if there is a right and wrong way to use the black tank flush but when using it, I always leave the valve open when flushing. Others have their own way which works for them.

The instructions that came with the black tank flush system stated always leave the valve in the open position.

When I really want to flush the tank well and there is no one behind me in line at the dump station, yes I close the valve and let the tank partially fill using the flush.
The tank has a vent so no damage will be done unless you overfill the tank. This is where common sense kicks in. I When doing this I make sure I don't get distracted.

Black Tank Gate valve

Not to change the subject but yesterday I removed the plunbing end cap only to find about 5 gallons of black flush behind the cap. I was prepaired just incase as I thought the gate valve had a problem. Is there a way to get to the inners of the black gate valve and clean where the gate should seal ????----
